Former opposition legislator Amos Chibaya has filed a police report after receiving an anonymous death threat linked to a planned political meeting scheduled for this past Sunday, June 21.

According to a report lodged at Milton Park Police Station under Report Received Book (RRB) Number 6797835, Chibaya received a threatening message warning him against proceeding with the meeting.

The message read: “Chimeeting chamuri kuronga chamangwana chikangoitwa uri kutsvira mumba” — loosely translated as, “If the meeting you are planning for tomorrow goes ahead, you will die from arson.

Confirming the development, Chibaya said he feared for his safety.

“I am fearing for my life,” he said.

“I have file a police report and they said they are investigating.”

The planned meeting was intended to discuss the country’s prevailing political situation amid escalating tensions surrounding the controversial Constitution Amendment No. 3 Bill (CAB3).
